Best Friends : Where Are They?

Hey guys! First of all, thank you all for the comments. I’m feeling way better and it’s because of you.

The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing… not healing, not curing… that is a friend who cares. –ย Henri Nouwen

You know, friends should be people, who get you through this kind of things, but for the first time I felt like I had none. For two days I was at home, totally alone, depressed and none of them called me or texted me. I felt really lonely for the first time in my life.

I know I have made mistakes, but whenever they feel down, I try to be funny and with them. We have kinda relationship that includes coming to my home without calling and so on. But now I had to beg them to come? Why should I do that?

For the first time I was so depressed that I couldn’t go out for a walk (I love walking) and I needed them, but… I haven’t seen them since Saturday. Maybe I should return the favour? Nah, I’m not that kind of friend. The only thing that I know for sure, I want be the same with them. I feel betrayed.

It felt like you were my best friends with your great suggestions and my ex-boyfriend, who listened to me whining about another boy.

I don’t know how my life turned to this mess, but I hope for the best. Maybe I will be a great loner… Hmm.. I guess I have to think about this seriously.

I would like you to comment about your best friends and where are they, when you are in dark place.

  1. Honestly, my friends well the one I love the dearest is my twin sister. She happens to be far away and living her life with a guy that treats her not as well as the entire family would prefer. Instead, of her ever caring about the family she can care only about her life and ignore us all. For me, one who has been so close with her while growing up, never fighting and just loving every moment.. we seem to be not the best of friends as we use to be. She rather avoid me when I’m in need of her. I think it’s hard but I found a few new friends who are miles and countries away, but they atleast are there for me and we talk everyday, more than my sister. I guess as years pass by it shows that relationships with friends and family change, sometimes not as great as you want it to be. Great share, thank you.

  2. Friends come and go. People move on with their lives. I can happily admit my husband is my best friend and I couldn’t ask for a life long partner.

  3. Thank you for such a heartfelt, honest share. I know this sounds cliche but you are never really alone … just look at the fans you have here on this pretty little blog. Then again, own that feeling. Don’t deny it or brush it off. It’s real enough for you.

  4. I learned a long time ago that most friends come and go. When I was in high school I had more friends then I could count but really how good of friends were they. Now that I am older I am perfectly happy with my 2 amazing best friends. Yes of course I have many acquaintances, but when things get tough I know who I can call.

  5. When your friends cannot identify with you that is a hard place to be in. Perhaps, consider doing something for them. It may help you feel better and they may respond to you in a way you need right now. I know that sounds weird, but I’ve been there and it’s okay how you feel. You just have to find a way to get it out. Trust me, it will be okay!

  6. Sad it as may seem I don’t have friends. My best friend is my husband and I talk to people more online then I do offline. It would be nice though to have a friend that is female to be able to talk with sometimes.

  7. I lost my best friend last year…but in process discovered I had more friends then I knew about.
Just let your inner light shine whereever you are, good people are drawn to that and new friendships can be born.

  8. The only constant is change. Unfortunately this also applies to friendships. But when you do find a lifelong friend that is truly worth treasuring.

  9. I don’t have much close friends but the ones I do have I know I can count on to be there to at least listen to me since we are so far away from each other. When you’ve found friends who can and will always be there for you, cherish them.

  10. I hope you feel better soon and go out for them walks. I know when I do it helps clear my mind. I met my best friend when I was in 1st grade and we are best friends to this day. We are always there for each other through life events even though we sometimes pass months without seeing each other. Counting the days till she comes back from Finland to visit her in-laws so we can have a girls night out ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I agree, friends do come and go. It happens, people change and have different focus. It’s not fun, though. My best friend is my husband and I recognize how lucky I am to have that. But all the people I thought were my best friends growing up….aren’t even a part of my life now and it’s totally ok. Go out for walks and focus on other things, things will get better!

  12. Friends come and go or not always there at an instant. Some friends I just get to see online or some once in a blue moon but spending time alone also creates a stronger and more independent person in you. Sometimes, you make the best decisions when you are in solitude because you have to dig within to know what you’re heart really desires.

  13. I’ve only a found a handful of people in my life that I would consider my best friends. They are always there no matter what and always show they care and that the same time know when to give me my space.

  14. Interesting post, especially since me and my BFF just re-connected after not speaking for about a year. I found out she had a stroke and is partially blind. I would have felt horrible if something worse would’ve happened to her. I feel bad enough knowing what I do know. If you find one hold on tight they are a rare breed.

  15. My best friend is my ex- husband. He just listens and agrees when I complain or am depressed. I also have my friends on line. One who keeps me positive and when I am being negative. Glad you are doing better now.

  16. I feel like i have lots of “best friends” and it depends on the situation. I have my long time friends that I do not stay in close contact with but we always pick up where we left off, and I could always call when I need something. I have my vent friends, who are always up for a girls night to dish the dirt on the day. Then I have the people I connect with like really connect with and those are the lifers.

  17. I have a very close group of friends that have always been there for me. As you get older or your life changes you find out who the important people are.

  18. I don’t have many true friends, but the few I have are def. keepers. The older we get, the more we appreciate one another too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. I have really few real friends and I’m happy with it. Your best friends should always be with you no matter what. Thanks for sharing your story.

  20. I had a few friends… the rest only come around when they need something. I have a small group of friends I visit when I go home, then my small group online.

  21. Reading all the comments above, I agree with most of them, that friends come and go and life always goes on and that there is a thin line between being friends and being an acquaintance.
